The first industrial enterprises - low-power handicraft ,manufacture of a mineral industry, cotton recycling, oil producing and others have appeared in middle 19 centuries. In the beginning 20 centuries the railway transportation has appeared. Within the Soviet authority in the Andijan region established industrial enterprises for processing of cotton, textile, sewing, machine-building enterprises.
Today industry is one of conducting branches of a national economy of the region. In 2001 in this branch is made of production for amount of 276 billion 701million sum.
Manufacture of the consumer goods is one of conducting directions of the economy, its volume for 2001 has made 197 billion sum. Today in the region 144 industrial enterprises are in function. Including enterprise 29 machine-building and metal processing industry,11enterprieses manufacture of building materials, 53 light industry enterprises, 41 food-processing industry etc.
Automobile industry
After obtaining independence particular attention is giving to developing of labor consuming and full - science branches of economy. One of the main results of independence was construction of automobile plant
"UZ DAEWOO AUTO CO". Among the former union countries hadn't getting Uzbekistan became the first and yet only between them possessor modern high technological motor - car construction plant - giant. "UZ DAEWOO AUTO CO" is one of the largest companies in Andijan region. The capacity of Uzbek - Korean plant is 200 thousand machines per year. The volume of output for 2001 was 124317,4 million soum, or 41000 cars. It is known to everybody, these are "Nexia", "Tico", and "Damas". The share of company in GDP to region is 44,9 %. With developing of motor - car construction there is going localization of assembling parts for automobile. Today 7 satellites of " UZ DAEWOO AUTO CO" plant are working, 6 from them are located in Andijan region. This is varnish - dye plant "UZ DONG JU PAINT CO" producing automobile paint and other varnish - dye productions; "UZ TONG HO" plant producing sittings; "UZ SEIMUNG CO" plant producing petrol tanks; "UZ DONG VON CO" plant producing exhaust pipe, silencer; "UZ DONG YANG CO" plant producing interior trims of salon; " UZ CORAM CO" plant producing buffer and panels. Localization of producing reserve parts in territory of region so and in neighboring regions of the Republic is continuing.
Metal - working and engineering industry
In this branch of industry are function ate more then 30 enterprises in Andijan region. Mainly they produce equipments and techniques for agricultural branch. Among them larges are: JS " Andijanmash ", the only plant in territory of former Union outputting diesel water presses in type of "Andijanes", which uses with demand not only in countries of CIS and in majority of near eastern countries; JS " Tojmetal" outputting of equipment for cotton clearing plants, JS " Irmash" producing hydro cylinder for excavator and crane. The department of SJS TAPO and CH, Andijan mechanic plant producing and repairing railway carriages. Also there was put producing bearing of rocking. At present performs a line of works inviting of foreign investments to this branch.
Electro-technical industry
These companies are consisting Electro-tactical industry of the Andijan region such as "Andijan elktro apparat" , "Istiqlolning Yetti yilligi", "Marhamatskiy electro technicheskiy zavod", "Andijan kabel". The significant growth of an electrotechnical industry is achieved. In comparison with the similar period of the last year the growth has made 121,6 percents.
Manufacture of polyethylene products
This branch of industry is one of the quickly growing industries. Now in area increases its industrial potential. Uzbek-American Joint Venture " Andijan Polythene " makes of a polyethylene film for cultivation of a cotton and for some industrial needs of the local enterprises. Polypropylene bags made by Uzbek-American Joint Venture " Andijan Polypropylene " are in great demand, both on local and in the foreign markets.
Another Joint venture witch grows increases its activities "Nur vafo plastic" Uzbek- Turkish JV producing polyethylene notebook and book covers and polyethylene pipes of a various diameter for industrial needs of the population.
The local enterprise " Andijan Polymer " makes of various plastic and polyethylene container for packing agricultural products and food production.
Food-processing industry
During the period of independent developments the food-processing industry of region has ceased to be monopoly of the state. In the region 40 enterprises of a food-processing industry are in function among them 6 manufacture on flour and forages production, 6 enterprieses on processing of vegetables and fruit , 2 winemaking manufactures, most of them are enterprises with foreign investments. They are Uzbek -Italian Joint venture " FAM" on manufacture of macaroni products, Uzbek-Britain-Russia Joint Venture "MASK" on manufacture of ketchups, mineral water, tomato paste. The fruit juices producer Uzbek-English Joint Venture "Andijan durdonasy" have received the international recognition and have won numerous prizes. The basic consumers of dried fruits produced in the "Hudjaaobod mevakuritish" were republics of CIS. Today all production of this factory is exported to the countries of East Europe.
By fast rates the private restaurant business develops.
Textile and clothing industry
Provided that, Andijan region is one of the main producers of cotton fiber in the Republic, the day by day the textile industry is increasing with rapid temps. Today in Andijan region 12 cotton fabrics producing enterprises are function ate, 2 - producing fabrics from natural silk, 8 - producing knitted linen and goods, 10 - sewing enterprises, 751 - private sewing small firms.
Creating of private spinning factories allowed independently and regularly to produce necessary quantity of high quality yarns, and this one's turn, promotes reducing of transport expenditures, and creating additionally working place and becoming cheaper of production.
The main producers of textile industry in our region are such enterprises as: Uzbek - American " Alisher Navoi International" JV producing coarse calico fabrics and cotton yarns; Uzbek - German " An Ted Textiles" JV process sing wastes from cotton spinning production; "Bobur" JSPC producing coarse calico fabrics and cotton yarns; "Anteks" JV producing sewing goods and cotton yarns; " Semurg" JSPC producing knitted linens to ready knitted production for men, women and children; " Humo Yun" Co. Ltd producing knitted goods .
Company of local industry: " Uzbek - American " Madiniyat International" JV producing sewing goods, "Asyuks" Co. Ltd. Producing working costumes, tents, covers for cotton; "An-Nur" Co. Ltd. producing bed - clothes, wadded coat, working costumes; Karasuv industrial association, producing cotton wool "Prima"; Jalalkuduk cotton wool producing organization producing cotton wool "Prima" and others. These companies lead works to promote quality of private production and realize those not only in districts and regions and outside of countries, and they receive high mark among the buyers.
Must be noted, that 18,2 % ready linen, 35,8 % knitted linens, 28 % producing socks and 15,6 % sewing goods in the Republic falls to the share of company in Andijan region.
Tanning and shoe industry
In Andijan region for 2001 has been produced 1137 thousand pair of shoe for different category of population. There are 2 shoe factory are function ate, also Uzbek - Turkish "Kesar - Tur" JV producing women and children slippers. From the ending of last year Uzbek - Turkish " Kesar - Tur" JV have started function ate process sing of leather skin and producing 60 kinds of ready goods from natural leather. Leather coats, cloaks, costumes, trousers, skirts, and shorts for men, women and children in all ages. The project capacity of this company is process sing 450 thousand units of sheepskin and 45 thousand units of ready leather goods per year.
To the share of company sewing shoe falls 16,7 % from the total volume of shoe production in the Republic.
Petroleum and gas are the main mineral resources of the area. There are currently eight oil and gas wells in production such as " Andijan", " Yujniy Alamushuk", " Polvontosh", and "Hodjaabad". In 2000 there was produced more then 113,3 thousand tons of petroleum
In the Andijan Region, there are 7 large construction companies with 13 specialized departments, which are divided into 157 construction teams whose volume of production for 2000 was 23,5 billion soum.
